Course description
ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ us on an engaging journey through time as we uncover the fascinating history of three of Cleethorpes' iconic entertainment venues. This course invites curious minds to explore the rich past and transformations of these local landmarks, revealing stories that have shaped the community over the years.
We'll begin with the Empire Theatre, once a vibrant centre of entertainment, now transformed into an amusement arcade. We'll delve into its historical significance and explore whether any remnants of its theatrical past remain today.
Next, we will venture to the Coliseum Cinema, a building now home to a Wetherspoons public house on Cleethorpes High Street. Through captivating images and anecdotes, we'll trace its evolution from a cinema to its current incarnation, uncovering layers of its intriguing history.
Our journey will also take us to the Theatre Royal, a site that has sadly fallen into disrepair and is awaiting redevelopment. We'll investigate its usage before and after its days as a theatre, piecing together the story of its rise and fall.
This course is perfect for anyone with a curiosity about local history and an interest in discovering hidden treasures from a bygone age.
