Course overview

A hands on course using the tutor’s huge fossil collection. Find out about life on Earth over millions of years and learn how to identify these fossils and interpret how they lived.

Course description

This course will take you through ideas like what is a fossil, how do they get preserved and what evolutionary changes have happened over many millions of years. We start by learning how to ID them, and then investigate how they lived and died by looking at simple observations of the bodies. As well as the fossils there will be amazing video clips and Powerpoints to take you on a few virtual field trips. This course has something for everyone – from those with no knowledge at all, to those who already know a little about fossils. The specimens you will handle are simply amazing!
