Course overview

Christmas is just the excuse you need to indulge in a creative craft course with the WEA. During this course we will be using a range of techniques and materials to design create and embellish handmade items to decorate our Christmas trees, homes and dining tables ready for the big day. Let's have some fun, meet like minded people, share inspiration and ideas and impress family and guests with our creativity skills and imagination. This course is perfect for anyone who loves the holiday season and enjoys hands-on crafting. Whether you are a beginner looking to learn new skills or a more experienced crafter seeking fresh ideas, this course is for you.

Course description

This creative course is designed for crafters of all skill levels who want to create beautifully handmade decorations for themselves or to give as keepsakes to family and friends during the festive season.

Each week we will explore together new techniques and projects transforming simple materials into eye-catching decorations.

On this course we will look at:

Different types of paper and foam

Essential tools and supplies

Basic cutting, folding and glueing techniques

Creating templates to enable you to recreate the projects

Designing and assembling festive garlands

Techniques for creating 3D shapes and structures

There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and share your ideas with other members of the group. We will also be using our digital learning platform ‘Canvas’ to set clear objectives and upload our completed work.

During each session you will have the opportunity to comment on your classmates work and receive feedback on your own from both tutor and fellow crafters. This sharing of our makes can be incredibly inspiring and instil confidence in our own work and creative ability. This course will provide you with the inspiration and know how to create memorable Christmas decorations.

A reasonably stocked craft room is a must for this course and a detailed list of specific items needed will posted on Canvas before the start of the course. ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵ us and add a handmade touch to your holiday celebrations.

Hopefully by the end of this creative course, you'll want to try other paper-crafts, such as art journaling, card making, junk journaling or collage. Check out the WEA website and see what’s on offer.
