Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.

Course overview
Course description
Improve your ability to take measurements, read patterns, prepare fabric for cutting, use a sewing machine, stitch fabric, make seams, insert a zip, make buttonholes, and use overlock machines to create a professional finish. Widen your knowledge of the qualities of different types of fabric. Make cushions, curtains or other soft furnishing projects, and produce samples, recordings and photos for your folder (online and on paper) every week. In addition to sewing; citizenship, employability and digital skills will also be embedded in the programme to help you develop valuable transferable skills.
Assessment of learning will be done regularly throughout the course so that you can map your academic progression with us at the WEA.
Information, advice and guidance will also be given to enable further course/professional progression to enable you to progress into other study areas or prepare you for the world of employment.
