Course overview

This Advanced level course will build on skills gained in the Pre Entry and Intermediate courses that you may have studied previously, or you may be assessed by the tutor as ready for this course straight away. It has been developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council which refers learners to this and to other courses hosed at the Old School based in Blakenhall, Wolverhampton. This course is particularly suited to students who are unemployed and have been referred by a Job Centre to improve your spoken and written English and thereby develop the skills to empower you to get that job.

Course description

This is a ten week Advanced course which has been developed developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council which refers learners to this and other programmes hosted at the Old School, which is a community centre run by Blakenhall Action Community Forum. The learner might be building on the skills and confidence gained in the Pre Entry and Intermediate Language@Work courses and you will improve your spoken and written English and develop skills which will get you closer to a getting a job. You will study basic English words and phrases around the world of work in the UK and develop your skills and experience to search various job sites, prepare a simple letter, prepare yourself with mock interview activities and know what to say to in the interview in order to get that job.

This course will suit students who are unemployed and have been referred by Job Centres to improve their spoken and written English and thereby become closer to the job market. It will lead you on to a job or other courses will be identified and recommended to you to further develop your skills and confidence. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

What financial support is available?

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
