Entry Levels 1,2,3: If you have never studied this subject before and you’re not confident in your skills, Entry levels are a good starting point.
Level 1: Covers basic skills and knowledge needed for this subject
Level 2: Building on basic knowledge or experience. Similar to Grade 4/ C at GCSE or O level in England or Standards in Scotland.
Level 3: Learn about the topic in-depth and have a broad range of skills. Independent working Equivalent to an A level in England or Higher in Scotland.
Beginners: A perfect introduction if you have no experience and skills in this subject.
Improvers: The next step if you have basic skills or knowledge but want to progress them further.
Advanced: Build on the solid experience and skills you have in this subject, applying your skills and knowledge in a more complex way.

Course description
Study English in a dynamic way by practising your listening and comprehension skills with music and videos. Discuss issues you care about with the class and feel more confident with public speaking. Watch your vocabulary expand as you read different types of texts (and feel free to hint to your tutor which ones you prefer!). Improve your grammar and spelling with activities made for adults, not kids.
Edexcel functional skills English courses are created by adults, for adults. If you want to improve your English skills for employment or training, this course is ideal for you.
This functional skills English Level 2 course takes around 65 hours to complete.
To get your qualification, you’ll do two external assessments. One for reading and writing, and the other in speaking, listening, and communicating.
To take this level 2 English course you’ll need to have a digital device such as a computer or tablet. You can do your assessments online if you like. You’ll also need access to the internet to communicate with your tutor and receive learning materials through Canvas, the WEA’s digital learning portal.
