Course overview

This 5 week course delves into the works of 5 street artists including Damian Ortega, Antony Gormley, Marc Quinn, Rachel Whiteread and Micheal Craig-Martin. Each week explores key art concepts including, colour and composition through sampleas of their work. You will engage in group discussions, take notes, and recall information. By the end of the course, you will be able to name significant sculptors, describe their artistic methods, sport similarities and differences among their work, deconstruct essential components of artworks, and select a preferred piece based on personal opinion.

Course description

This 5 week courses focuses on five sculptures whose work ranges in scale and material, from plater to blood! Each week view samples of the work of notable sculptors, including, installation artist Damian Ortega, Antony Gormley who explores the relationship between body and nature, conemporary artist Marc Quinn, Rachel Whiteread who works with plaster and casts and conceptual artist Michael Craig-Martin. Each artist will be explored with key art concepts including composition, use of colour, symbolism and more. Each week you will explore concepts through group discussion. You will be encouraged to take notes and recall information over the 5 weeks. By the end of the course, you will be able to notice significant sculptors, describe their artistic methods, spot similarities and differences among their work, deconstruct essential components of artworks and select a preferred piece based on personal opinion.
