Take your reading skills to the next level with these ESOL classes. Feel comfortable reading and understanding different types of texts in English. Improved reading skills can make life in the UK easier for you. This ESOL entry 3 reading course builds on skills you learnt at entry 2. You’ll continue to expand your vocabulary and reading skills. This is an English course for adults. It is aimed at speakers of other languages. ESOL courses are divided into three areas: reading, writing, and speaking & listening. Course description

What we’ll cover

  • Learn to identify the purpose and main points in a range of texts in English

  • Explore skim reading techniques to help you quickly understand the main idea of a text

  • Understand the features of texts that can help you pick out information more easily

  • Learn to read a text and extract specific information

  • Improve your dictionary skills

  • Understand how to create alphabetical lists using 1st and 2nd place letters.

This ESOL course focuses on developing basic reading skills for adults.

You need previous knowledge to take this course, that’s why you’ll need to do a skills check to enrol. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level.

When you complete this module, you can continue with other ESOL entry 3 courses. Once you finish the reading, writing, and speaking & listening courses, you can progress to level 1 ESOL courses.

There are also “Get Ready” courses between each module to prepare you for the next course.

What to expect

This ESOL skills for life entry 3 reading course takes around 90 hours to complete.

Please note that you’ll need an internet connection to study this ESOL reading course. This is so you can access our digital learning platform, Canvas.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
