Course overview

This course is for women only. It will be held at the Dolphin Women's Centre, Washwood Heath, Birmingham and is an ESOL course for learners at Entry Level 1. The course will help you to develop your basic writing skills in English. This is an English course aimed at adults for whom English is not their first language. You will get lots of opportuntities to practice your new English skills in groups and individually, you will also be given homework tasks so you can continue to practice at home. If you are suipporting someone to find an English class you have come to the right place. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

Course description

What we’ll cover: - You will learn to write the English alphabet in upper and lower case letters. – You will practice spelling concentrating on words about you and about everyday situations. – You will start to learn to write sentences about things that are happening now and work on using words in the correct order and on punctuation. This is an English course for adults. You will work on developing your writing skills. You need foundational English skills to take this course, that’s why you’ll need to do a skills check to enrol. Don’t worry, this isn’t an exam. It’s for us to make sure you get on the right course for your level. Our friendly team will contact you to start your skills check as part of your booking. When you complete this module, you can continue with other ESOL courses. What to expect This ESOL skills for life Entry Level 1 course takes 75 hours to complete. The WEA is an experienced ESOL course provider. We want you to get the most out of your studies and open doors to opportunities. Our tutors and staff will help you with any language needs you might have. The WEA is committed to providing accessible adult education. Please let us know if you have any special requirements to be able to take these ESOL classes comfortably. Most of our courses are free for most of our learners. Please note that you need to get to the end of the enrolment process to see the discounts.

Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.
