Course overview

This is course 2 of a set of 2 courses which are an exciting opportunity to develop your confidence and skills in basic English literacy skills. The courses will concentre on reading and writing skills and building how to use the English alphabet. You will also build more confidence in your speaking and listening in English. You will learn basic skills such as reading and writing the alphabet, numbers and basic vocabulary. This course is designed to provide a basic foundation of skills to allow learners to access their next steps in a more formal learning setting.

Course description

In this very beginners course, learners will develop confidence to interact with everyday topics like travel, health and where you live. We will focus on basic literacy skills as well as exchanging basic information.

The course is open to learners who did not learn to read or write in their home countries and want to start their literacy journey here in the UK.

We will practise forming and writing letters and numbers, forming sounds and words in speaking and writing as well as learning the numbers. It is hoped this will make you more confidence when interacting day to day in the UK and help your job prospects also.

The course is designed to prepare learners for a pre-entry class in the new academic year.

The class will be run by a qualified tutors in a friendly venue in Burnley. The course will run from 9.30am - 11.30am every Wednesday and Thursday morning.

This is part 2 of the course, upon completion learners may move up to the pre-entry class if they are deemed ready or even onto entry 1 classes if they improved that much.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need alternative financial help to access them then let us know.
