Ron Marks
Deputy President & National Officer, People Committee Member
Ron joined the WEA as a member and as a tutor in 2005, after retiring from secondary school teaching in both comprehensive and grammar schools. He taught for a total of sixty years.
Ron is a former WEA branch secretary and branch chair, and has also served as chair of the WEA eastern region, subsequently chair of the new south-east region and chair of the Essex federation.
At the WEA annual conference on 1 March 2024 WEA launched the nominations process for individuals to serve as Officers following the retirement of two postholders. The role of Deputy Association President was uncontested. In accordance with WEA’s Articles Ron was appointed as a WEA Officer, Trustee and Deputy Association President on 1 August 2024.
