Course overview

This basic course will introduce learners to the world at work and the language needed to enter it. The course has been developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council which refers learners to this and other programmes hosted at the Old School, which is a community centre run by Blakenhall Action Community Forum. This course is particularly suitable for students are unemployed and have been referred by Job Centres to improve their spoken and written English and thereby get closer to getting a job.

Course description

This is a ten week course developed in partnership with Wolverhampton City Council which refers learners to this and other programmes hosted at the Old School, which is a community centre run by Blakenhall Action Community Forum. You'll improve your basic spoken and written English and develop skills that will hep you to get closer to the job market. You'll study basic English words and phrases and learn what are the essentials to get you ready to join the Beginner's course, which will take these skills and develop them further. Items you will cover include - what I need for my class; time management; writing the alphabet lower case; writing the alphabet upper case; saying the alphabet; writing and signing my name in English; common English phrases. This course is funded by the West Midlands Combined Authority.

We don't want anything to stand in your way when it comes to bringing Adult learning within reach so if you need anything to support you to achieve your goals then speak to one of our education experts during your enrolment journey. Most of our courses are government funded but if you don't qualify or need.
