Course description

In part 1 of Advanced ESOL, you will have continued to develop your English to prepare you for applying for work, which will also help with basic communication skills. This advanced course is for people who live in Coventry and are an advanced level in English. It is a face-to-face course. You will continue to develop some of the language needed to apply for work and also at work. You will practise your speaking and listening skills alongside reading and writing in English. We will help you to start becoming more confident to talk to people in English in your local community and also to become more independent so you don’t have to rely on others to translate everything. You will now have better English to help you communicate when applying for jobs or looking for alternative roles or promotions. Some of the things we will cover in this half of the course include:

• Write full paragraphs accurately

• Identify purpose of different pieces of text

• Follow instructions correctly

After you have completed this short course, you can move on to further courses in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), maths, digital skills or other work-related skills. Some of these courses lead to formal qualifications.
